Children's Specialized Hospital, Underground Parking Garage, Mountainside, New Jersey |
 The
Damon G. Douglas Company has partnered with HACBM of Princeton as a design/build team to
construct an underground parking garage for Children's Specialized Hospital in
Mountainside, New Jersey. Extensive excavation was required to build the two and
one-half levels, most of which is below grade. The garage includes a total of 230 spaces,
is fully sprinklered and equipped with an elevator for handicap access and two stair
towers. The garage was designed to be as unobtrusive as possible to the surrounding
neighborhood to minimize impact on the neighbors as well as the Hospital. This required
step-by-step design evolution. The project required excavation 30 feet below the footings
of the existing building, which was only three feet away. The design required extensive
use of precast concrete materials. |
