University,
NJ Shakespeare Festival Theatre,
Madison, New Jersey |
The Damon G. Douglas
Company was chosen for the extensive renovations and new additions to the existing 1909
theatre on the the campus of Drew University. The new theatre retains two original
exterior brick walls of the existing structure, a third original wall was retained as the
interior wall for the new lobby. Damon G. Douglas Company overcame the challenge of
matching the existing brick and overall appearance in expansion of the north and east
sides of the theatre. The entrance, fully handicapped accessible, leads to the airy,
800-square-foot lobby, with soaring ceilings and a two-story wall of windows. The new
theatre includes seating for 308 guests, a rehearsal hall, a green room, piano lift and an
executive office/conference room. |
